Not all google images are free :)

There are many websites where you can get images "royalty free". I prefer www.sxc.hu they have a hugh database of very good photos and artworks. You just need to do a free registration to download the images. An other very nice site is www.deviantart.com . But never forget to check the rights for every image, sometimes there are special usage restrictions.

You can use Flickr to search images that have the license you’re looking for. In that case you’ll still need to attribute credit to the images, but they are free (as there’s hardly such a thing as copyright-free, but there is royalty-free which is what I’m providing you with). Here’s a link with the settings already in:

If you want to use the photos for non-commercial use then you can use CC (Creative Commons licenced) photos from Flickr without any problems.

When you search, click on "advanced" and select only CC licenced images.

Here’s the key: What you REALLY want are called "Stock Photos" and must also be ‘royalty-free’, so, just do a Google search for:

Just keep in mind that when you post them to your website, the originating site often wants you to give them their due credit. So, read the fine print before you decide on your favourite sources.
